Long-Term, Non-Contingency Active Duty for Operational Support (ADOS)
In accordance with
Active Duty for Operational Support (ADOS), PSC-RPM is responsible for
centralized management of long-term, non-contingency ADOS.
This encompasses ADOS assignments that are greater than 180 days in
duration, and not supporting a Coast Guard contingency (e.g., Overseas
Contingency operations supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom,
Deepwater Horizon, etc.).
ADOS assignments in support of contingency operations are managed by
PSC’s Personnel Services Division, Surge Staffing Branch (PSC-PSD-ssb).
PSC-RPM announced the centralization of long-term, non-contingency ADOS
The long-term, non-contingency ADOS assignment
process mirrors the established SELRES PCS assignment process and is managed within Direct
Access. Effective FY13, the
Mobilization Readiness Tracking Tool (MRTT) is not used to
solicit requests for long-term, non-contingency ADOS support.

Long-Term, Non-Contingency ADOS process.
As outlined in the flowchart, the basic process for long-term,
non-contingency ADOS management is as follows:
receives a request for long-term, non-contingency ADOS support from a
unit/entity with an approved ADOS allocation.

format to request long-term, non-contingency ADOS support.
- PSC-RPM-2 releases an ALCGRSV message soliciting volunteers for the
ADOS assignment based on the requestor’s ADOS support requirements.
- Interested members apply for the ADOS assignment via E-resume
submission in Direct Access with required command endorsement.
- PSC-RPM creates a slate of candidates based on E-resume submissions and selects the best-qualified candidate for the ADOS
- PSC-RPM notifies the member, the member’s command, and the ADOS
requestor of the selection and processes the member’s PCS assignment to
the ADOS unit.
- PSC-RPM provides the member’s command with information
required to complete the member’s ADOS orders.
