The Thorfinn was a former whaler acquired from the War Shipping Administration.  The Coast Guard acquired this vessel for patrol work from the War Shipping Administration.  The conversion costs were $13,750.

She was assigned to the WESTSEAFRON and was stationed at San Pedro, CA, and used for patrol duty.
