Cutter History:

Agassiz replaced Arago at New York and was then sent to Sag Harbor, NY in late 1861. In 1862 she was at New London, CT and eventually sailed for New Bem, NC joining a revenue cutter "task force'' there the cutters Forward, Brown, and Antietam were also there at various times during the war. Agassiz assisted in repelling a Confederate attack on New Bern 17 March 1863. She returned to New Bedford, MA in 1863 and later sailed to Newport, RI.
