Cutter history:  

USRC Active was the fourth vessel named Active. She was a revenue boat that served on Lake Ontario stationed at Sackets Harbor, NY.  She was built there in 1843 and seems to have been in service until 1847. She was under the command of Revenue First Lieutenant William B. Whitehead.
