Bases
DOL-3 Office of Base Operations oversees the Coast Guard's thirteen bases.
Each base commander serves as the "single touchpoint" for the
district
commander to access the wide
variety of logistics services available within the Coast Guard's mission support
organization. The base commander synergizes field support delivery by
integrating the product and service lines of the Coast Guard's five
Logistics and Service Centers (Surface Forces Logistics Center, Shore
Infrastructure Logistics Center, C4IT Service Center, Personnel Service
Center, and Health Safety & Work-Life Service Center) with local
subordinate commands and base departments for optimum support delivery. In a
regional contingency response, the base commander supports the Coast Guard
operational commander by serving as the DIST-4 (logistics) staff element,
Incident Command System (ICS) logistics chief, or other appropriate
logistics element.
