Thank you for signing on to our Web site. Whether you are a new shipmate with orders to the PENOBSCOT BAY, or a member of the public curious about the cutter and its missions, please take a minute to browse our pages.
In April 2009, PENOBSCOT BAY announced the debut of an extensive online Ship's History Archive. After several months of preparation, we digitized and carefully organized hundreds of megabytes of historical content, including: dozens of historical documents, including a section dedicated to the cutter's christening and commissioning; over 50 newspaper and magazine articles featuring the cutter and its operations since PENOBSCOT BAY was commissioned in 1985; archival photographs digitized from original onboard negatives; and a number of awards from the cutter's onboard historical files. The Archive is the beginning of an ongoing effort to share the PENOBSCOT BAY story and preserve the legacy left by her crew.
Complementing our efforts to document the cutter's remarkable history, we've also established a PENOBSCOT BAY "fan page" on Facebook.com to chronicle her more recent operations and accomplishments. The page features up-to-the-minute updates on PENOBSCOT BAY operations, including photo galleries, video, links to news coverage of the PENOBSCOT BAY, and regular blog-style updates from the Captain and crew. Keep up with us during ice season this year by visiting the page regularly!
