Public affairs, community relations, and Partnership in Education (PIE)

PENOBSCOT BAY's homeport in New York Harbor and the cutter's ample deck
space make the ship an ideal public affairs platform. In average year,
PENOBSCOT BAY hosts between 250 and 500 students from area schools, summer
programs, and community groups. A typical visit to the PENOBSCOT BAY
includes a 1-2 hour familiarization cruise around New York Harbor, an
introduction to the Coast Guard's primary missions, and a basic
water/boating safety presentation. As is the case with any military unit,
PENOBSCOT BAY's availability for tours and community relations events is
dependent on operations. If you represent a student or community group,
