COMMAND PHILOSOPHY

As Commanding Officer of CGC KATHERINE WALKER it is my responsibility to ensure that we as a crew accomplish the Coast Guard’s missions professionally and safely.  Each of you is a vital part in contributing to these accomplishments and I expect nothing less than your best effort during your tenure aboard.

The Coast Guard Core Values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty are very important and I expect every one of you to up hold these values on and off the ship.  Remember, you represent the Coast Guard at all times, stand proud for your service, your ship, and most importantly yourself.

We will train, train, and then train some more to increase our knowledge, lower safety risk, and give the public the best product available.  Training is the key to safely completing our missions.  Complete your qualifications, learn the ship's systems, and strive to learn something everyday.

Take ownership and show pride in our ship.  We all have an obligation to maintain the appearance and material condition of our ship.  Through hard work and attention to detail, we will make CGC KATHERINE WALKER  the best looking and most capable Buoy tender in the fleet.

Take care of your shipmates.  Together we succeed, separate we fail.  It will take all of us as a crew to accomplish our missions at hand.  Respect your fellow shipmates and they in return will always be there to give you that helping hand.

I demand that each and every one of you take great care of your families...  I will make the greatest effort to keep your families informed of our missions and schedules.  I look forward to meeting each and every member of your families in the future.

Last, but not least, we will have fun on board CGC KATHERINE WALKER.  Enjoy your time on board and take the opportunity to make a lot of friends.
