Darcie G. Cunningham, Commander, USCG
Commander Cunningham has been a mission support professional her entire career. After receiving her commission from Officer Candidate School in July 1994, she has served at field units to include Integrated Support Command Alameda (as Comptroller), and Sector Northern New England (as Logistics Department Head). At the Depot-Level, Commander Cunningham served two tours at Maintenance and Logistics Command (MLC) Pacific (as Contingency Planner for Out-of-Hemisphere deployments, and as Aide de Camp to the MLC Commander). At the Headquarters level, Commander Cunningham served in the Financial Analysis Division (G-CFM-2), the Office of Budget and Programs (CG-821) and most recently as the Executive Assistant to the Coast Guard’s Chief of Staff/Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS).
Commander Cunningham’s unique career experiences include serving as the Primary
Logistics Officer for Operation FOAL EAGLE, providing on-site support to over
350 troops while exercising in remote locations in South Korea. She was deployed
to the Republic of Georgia and challenged with developing a business plan and
associated financial systems for the Georgian’s newly established Coast Guard.
She was also deployed to assist in relief efforts following Typhoon CHATAAN and
Super Typhoon PONGSONA in Guam and the Mariana Islands.
Commander Cunningham’s most notable accomplishment was serving as the Budget Coordinator for the Coast Guard’s Fiscal Year 2007 budget request to Congress. She personally spearheaded the development of the 484-page Congressional Justifications as part of the Coast Guard’s $8.4 billion request to Congress.
Commander Cunningham received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Whittier College in 1993 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in 2001. She is also an Excellence in Government Senior Fellow. Commander Cunningham’s awards include three Meritorious Service Medals, two CG Commendation Medals, a CG Achievement Medal, and others.
Commander Cunningham is a native of Mabel, MN. She is married to Captain Eugene Cunningham, U. S. Coast Guard (ret).
