Senior Chief Mills assumed the duties as Command Senior Chief, Base Los Angeles/Long Beach on 05 May 14. His primary responsibility is to advise the Commanding Officer of Base Los Angeles/Long Beach, on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard members and their families within Base Los Angeles Long Beach. Most recently Senior Chief Mills served in the LANT-6 department at Coast Guard Atlantic Area in Portsmouth, VA, where he served as Chief of the Mess.

Senior Chief Mills’ previous assignments include USCGC Courageous, Group Key West, FL, Group Upper Mississippi River, Keokuk, IA, Group Woods Hole, MA, MSU Morgan City, LA, USCGC Campbell, and MSU Valdez, AK.

Senior Chief Mills is a proud graduate of Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Academy, Class 155, the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, Session 36 and he is currently taking classes at Touro University Worldwide in pursuit of his Associates Degree.

Senior Chief Mills’ personal awards include seven Achievement Medals with Operational Distinguishing Device, one Commandant’s Letter of Commendation with Operational Distinguishing Device, and the permanent Cutterman’s Pin.
