Waesche pulls into Honolulu Harbor

The National Security Cutter (NSC) is the largest and most technically advanced class of cutter in the Coast Guard, with capabilities for maritime homeland security, law enforcement and national defense missions. The NSC will replace the aging 378' High Endurance Hamilton class cutters that have been in service since the 1960s. Learn more about the NSC >>

Status

The third NSC, Stratton, was commissioned on March 31, 2012. The fourth NSC is in production at Ingalls Shipyards in Pascagoula, Miss. Prefabrication activities for the fifth NSC commenced March 6, 2012, in preparation for the start of production later this spring.

On patrol with Waesche: Boardings & shark fins

Those standing along the banks near the Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu in early April saw a fairly common sight as Coast Guard Cutter Waesche’s crew manned the rails to render honors to the USS Arizona Memorial. To those on shore it is a common occurrence, but for those clad in Coast Guard blue, it signified the beginning of their first-ever fisheries law enforcement patrol. Read more>>

On Patrol with Waesche: Firepower

Coast Guard Cutter Waesche is officially on Asia-Pacific patrol and kicked off the five-month deployment by participating in an historic set of gunnery exercises. The exercises, designed to test Waesche’s defenses against a low, slow-flying aircraft and a high-speed maneuvering surface target, put the gun crews of the cutter’s major mounts to the test.
