ALCOAST 464/08 COMDTNOTE 1710 SUBJ: OPERATIONAL DRESS UNIFORMS (ODUS) AVAILABILITY AT COAST GUARD EXCHANGES (CGX) 1. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ALL OPERATIONAL DRESS UNIFORMS (ODUS) CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION CENTER (UDC). FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, YOUR COAST GUARD EXCHANGE (CGX) WILL NO LONGER STOCK THE ODU. 2. THE TEMPORARY CHANGE IN THE AVAILABILITY OF THE ODU IS DUE TO THE PENDING TRANSITION TO THE UNTUCK ODU. IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE ALL USCG PERSONNEL, THE DECISION WAS MADE TO CONSOLIDATE ALL ODU INVENTORY INTO ONE CENTRAL LOCATION, THE UDC. CONSOLIDATING THE INVENTORY AT THE UDC WILL ENABLE US TO ENSURE ALL SIZES ARE READILY AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT, THEREBY REDUCING THE TIME AND FRUSTRATION CAUSED BY TEMPORARY OUT OF STOCKS ON SPECIFIC SIZES AS QUANTITIES DIMINISH. 3. AS THE NEW UNTUCK VERSION OF THE ODU BECOMES AVAILABLE IN MASS QUANTITIES, CGX WILL AGAIN MAINTAIN A BASIC ASSORTMENT IN THE EXCHANGE. AT THIS TIME, EXPECTED DELIVERY OF THE UNTUCK ODU TO CGX IS THE SECOND QUARTER FY09. 4. ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS FROM UDC REMAIN UNCHANGED AND ARE AS FOLLOWS: A.
